Talk by Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews: ‘A pockmarked boundary: dividing the landscape and the origins of ancient Baldock.’

13 May @ 7:30 pm

£7.00

Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews will give a talk entitled ‘A pockmarked boundary: dividing the landscape and the origins of ancient Baldock.’

In the second century BC, someone had a line of pits dug running almost 5 km across the landscape of North Hertfordshire starting in the west-northwest by the Ivel Springs, it runs under where Baldock Station and Hartsfield School now stand, reaching a field between Clothall Common and the bypass where it turns to an east-northeasterly direction, heading for the old radio station in Wallington. Why would anyone do this? What does it mean? Discover how it links the earth and the sky, life and death, worldly power and spiritual beliefs as well as marking the origins of ancient Baldock.

Tickets: £7.00 from bahc.co.uk or on the door if not sold out, inc small glass of wine or fruit juice
