If you are 30 years old or over and have a car and insurance, then why not take a mock driving test again? You will drive from Baldock in your own car collecting a qualified driving instructor who will discuss any faults on a warm-up drive to Letchworth. Then you will drive from the test centre in Letchworth and take a 1/2 hour mock test in your own vehicle. However, any faults will cost you !! Any minor faults will cost you 25p per fault, serious faults £1 per fault and dangerous faults will be £2 per fault! Why not challenge your friends and family to have a go and help raise money for our local hospice? The cost of the mock driving test will be £5 per person if you are unlucky enough to get any faults - could be a bit more!!! All proceeds will go to the garden house hospice. How could we not have them back as soon as their increasingly busy schedule allowed? Kelvin and Chloe are rooted in beautifully harmonised voices and intricate guitar work. The melding of Kelvin’s Country Blues guitar mastery and unique vocal style with Chloe’s lovely renditions of Appalachian standards is a marriage made in Heaven! There’s a bit of folk, a dash of country, a touch of Spanish, a cajun flourish, even a whisper of rock with Cambridge-based Thursday’s Band. And a healthy dose of classical, when virtuoso strings start to soar over locked-down guitars. The songs are mostly written by the various band members, but the band also has a repertoire of tunes, set against occasional covers of favourite songs. | 8528 | 2026-05-14 19:30:00 | Evening Walk with Stag Walkers: Baldock & Weston Hills | Join Stag Walkers for a 5-mile evening walk into the countryside southeast of Baldock, visiting Weston Hills Nature Reserve and ending with the chance of a pub stop. The route goes through town, farmland and woodland, and has some moderate slopes. Starting at the Twitchell car park in Baldock town centre, we’ll quickly head out of town and into arable farmland. We’ll pick up parts of two long-distance paths, the Icknield Way and then the Hertfordshire Way, which takes us up Hickman’s Hill and over to the edge of Weston. Turning back towards Baldock, we can enjoy wide-ranging views of the rolling countryside and might also hope to see the sunset. On our final stretch, we’ll walk through the woods and over the grassy slopes of Weston Hills, before making our way along Baldock’s historic High Street and back to our start point. Afterwards, there’s the chance of a drink a short walk away at The Orange Tree, CAMRA North Hertfordshire Pub of the Year. The route is partly on pavement and partly on rural footpaths so please wear appropriate footwear. The walk is organised by Stag Walkers, a Ramblers group aimed mainly at people in their 20s, 30s and a bit beyond.
